Mangaluru is set to witness a grand celebration of Hindustani classical music as 24 young vocalists and instrumentalists from across India participate in the two-day national-level ‘Yuv Mahotsav’ at Don Bosco Hall on February 8-9. Organized by the Sangeet Bharati Foundation, the event will feature a final music competition for 12 vocalists and 12 instrumentalists, chosen from 110 initial entries. Esteemed musicians, including Ustad Rafique Khan, Shashank Makedar, and Vidushi Purnima Bhat Kulkarni, will conduct a masterclass for aspiring musicians. The event will culminate in a mesmerizing Bansuri-vocal-sitar recital by Pandit Ronu Mujumdar, Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi, and Ustad Rafiq Khan, accompanied on tabla by Pandit Yashwant Vaishnav.

The competition will see each participant perform for 15 minutes, with a distinguished panel of judges selecting the top three vocalists and instrumentalists. These winners will take the stage on February 9 for a special 30-minute performance, receiving a cash award of ₹60,000 each. Additionally, a masterclass workshop will be held on February 9, offering music lovers a chance to learn from maestros like Pandit Ronu Mujumdar and Ustad Rafiq Khan. Interested participants can register for ₹500. With a stellar lineup of musicians and a platform for young talent, Yuv Mahotsav 2025 promises to be a remarkable celebration of Hindustani classical music.
