Wenlock Hospital Surgeons Save 12-Year-Old in Miraculous Midnight Surgery

Mangaluru: In a remarkable display of surgical expertise, the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) team at Wenlock Hospital, led by Dr. Suresh Pai, successfully removed a massive foreign body from a 12-year-old boy’s chest. The boy, a migrant from Assam working in Madikeri, suffered a severe injury when he fell at around 7:30 pm on February 8, causing a large wooden piece to pierce his neck and lodge in his chest. Rushed to Wenlock Hospital at 12:15 am, the young patient underwent a complex, life-saving surgery between 1:30 am and 3:30 am on February 9. The team meticulously extracted the wooden piece along with a broken steel chain, ensuring no further complications.


The boy is now in stable condition and recovering well, thanks to the quick response and precision of the medical team. The district surgeon and superintendent of Wenlock District Hospital commended the extraordinary efforts of the CTVS team, OT staff, and anesthesia team for their dedication in saving the child’s life. The successful operation once again highlights Wenlock Hospital’s commitment to delivering exceptional emergency medical care.
