In a series of unfortunate events over the weekend, Bantwal taluk witnessed three separate road accidents, resulting in the loss of three lives, including that of a senior citizen and a woman. The first incident occurred at Ramalkatte, where a 69-year-old man from Arkula lost his life. An SUV traveling towards Mangaluru veered off course, crossing the road divider, and collided head-on with a tipper lorry approaching from the opposite direction. A co-passenger in the SUV also succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

The second tragedy unfolded near Thumbe, where a 47-year-old pedestrian named Mahabala was fatally struck by a pick-up lorry while attempting to cross the road on Saturday evening. The lorry, traveling from the Mangaluru side, failed to avoid the pedestrian, leading to the fatal collision. In a separate hit-and-run incident on Friday near 10th Mile, Farangipete, a 60-year-old woman named Vasanthi sustained severe injuries after being hit by a car while crossing the road; she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver fled the scene but was later identified through CCTV footage.
