In a thrilling start to the IPL 2025 season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a commanding seven-wicket victory over defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Saturday. Chasing a target of 175, RCB's innings was ignited by a blazing 95-run opening partnership between Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. Salt's aggressive 56 off 31 balls, featuring nine fours and two sixes, set the tone for the chase. Kohli anchored the innings with an unbeaten 59 off 36 deliveries, ensuring RCB reached 177/3 in just 16.2 overs.

Earlier, KKR's new captain, Ajinkya Rahane, showcased his leadership with a composed 56, while Sunil Narine contributed a quickfire 44 off 26 balls. Their 103-run partnership had positioned KKR for a substantial total. However, RCB's bowlers, led by Krunal Pandya (3/29) and Josh Hazlewood (2 wickets), staged a remarkable comeback, restricting KKR to 174/8. This disciplined bowling effort, combined with the explosive batting display, handed RCB a perfect start to their campaign, leaving KKR to reassess strategies as they embark on their title defense.
