New Delhi: The Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday strongly objected to remarks made by certain Congress leaders, stating that they were “hurtful” and “unacceptable.” The response came after senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi commented on President Droupadi Murmu’s address in Parliament, saying, “The President was getting very tired by the end. She could hardly speak, poor thing.” The statement, issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan Press Secretary Ajay Singh, clarified that the President was not tired at any point and that her speech reflected her commitment to marginalized communities, women, and farmers.

Without naming individuals, the President’s office rebuked the remarks, asserting that such comments were in "poor taste" and “entirely avoidable.” The statement suggested that the leaders who made these comments might not be familiar with the idioms used in Indian languages like Hindi, leading to a misinterpretation. Meanwhile, the BJP launched a scathing attack on Sonia Gandhi, accusing her of disrespecting the President and demanding an apology. The controversy has further fueled the political tensions between the ruling party and the opposition as the Budget Session gets underway.
