New Delhi: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remarks about foreign interference, accusing him of diverting attention from real issues concerning the people. Reacting to Modi’s statement that, for the first time since 2014, no external forces have attempted to "stoke a fire" ahead of a Parliament session, Priyanka Gandhi said the Prime Minister consistently avoids discussions on pressing national matters. "He does not talk about people's issues or address them. In the last session, we saw that he did not allow debates. So he will continue making such statements," she told reporters at the Parliament premises.
The war of words comes ahead of the crucial Budget Session, where the Opposition is expected to raise concerns about inflation, unemployment, and other governance issues. Modi, while addressing the media before the session, took a dig at Opposition parties, alleging that past disruptions were often fueled by external elements. With the general elections approaching, the exchange highlights the deepening political rift, with the Congress accusing the BJP of evading accountability and the ruling party positioning itself as a guardian against foreign interference. The Budget Session, set to shape key economic policies, is likely to witness intense political debates in the coming weeks.
