MP Captain Brijesh Chowta Pushes for Fast-Tracking India’s First Coast Guard Academy

New Delhi: Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta met with Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh in the national capital on Tuesday evening to discuss the proposed Coast Guard Academy in Mangalore. The academy, set to be India’s first, and expected to play a crucial role in strengthening the nation’s maritime security training infrastructure. During the meeting, MP Captain Chowta emphasized the strategic importance of the academy and sought the Ministry’s intervention in expediting its establishment.

The proposal is currently awaiting approval from the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), and Captain Chowta expressed optimism about its swift clearance. He highlighted the need for accelerated decision-making to ensure the timely development of this critical training institution. Once operational, the Coast Guard Academy in Mangalore will serve as a premier institution, enhancing the capabilities of India’s maritime forces.
