MP Capt Brijesh & MLA Harish Poonja Advocates for Temple Development Funds Under PRASAD Scheme

Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh & Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja, met with Union Minister of Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi on March 27, 2025. They submitted a memorandum requesting financial assistance under the 'PRASAD' (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme for the development of several prominent temples in Dakshina Kannada district.

The temples proposed for funding include Sri Nandikeshwara Temple in Nandibetta Gardadi, Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple in Kolli, Sri Shishileshwara Temple in Shishila, Sri Sahasralingeshwara Temple in Uppinangady, and Sri Thodikkana Mallikarjuna Temple.

The PRASAD scheme, initiated by the Ministry of Tourism, aims to develop pilgrimage sites across India by enhancing infrastructure, promoting tourism, and preserving cultural heritage. MP Brijesh MLA Harish Poonja emphasized that financial support through this scheme would significantly boost the infrastructure and facilities at these temples, thereby attracting more devotees and tourists to the region. The Union Minister assured that the request would be considered, and necessary steps would be taken to facilitate the development of these spiritual sites.
