Mangaluru: In a significant step towards enhancing railway infrastructure in the coastal region, Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta will lay the foundation stone for the development works at Suratkal and Mulki railway stations tomorrow (January 30). The event will take place at Suratkal station at 9:30 AM and at Mulki station at 10:30 AM, with participation from Mangalore North MLA Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty, Mulky - Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian, and officials from the Konkan Railway Corporation.

For years, local residents have been demanding improved infrastructure at these two key railway stations. The lack of basic amenities had caused inconvenience, especially for daily commuters and local passengers. Responding to their concerns, MP Chowta proactively engaged with railway authorities and the Ministry of Railways, ensuring that the long-pending demands were addressed. As a result, Suratkal station will see platform surface upgrades at a cost of ₹47.52 lakh and a new platform roof costing ₹1.02 crore. Similarly, Mulki station, a crucial junction, will receive platform surface upgrades for ₹38.58 lakh and a new platform roof for ₹1.04 crore. These developments are expected to significantly improve travel convenience for thousands of passengers, including workers and students commuting between Mangaluru and Mumbai.
