MP Brijesh Chowta Pushes for Shiradi Ghat Bypass, Discusses Rail Expansion with Union Ministers

Mangaluru MP Captain Brijesh Chowta met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, seeking urgent intervention to resolve the long-standing Mangalore-Bangalore connectivity issues, particularly the Shiradi Ghat Bypass project. MP Captain Chowta emphasized the need for Karnataka’s state government to expedite clearances, including alignment approvals and forest permissions, to avoid further delays in this critical infrastructure project. He also briefed Gadkari on the progress of the National Highways Authority of India's (NHAI) Detailed Project Report and other ongoing developments along the Mangalore-Bangalore stretch. In response, Gadkari assured swift action from the Union Ministry once the necessary approvals from the state were in place.

Earlier, MP Brijesh Chowta also met Union Minister of State for Railways, Shri V. Somanna, to express his gratitude on behalf of the people of Dakshina Kannada for extending the Kabaka Puttur Express to Subramanya Junction. Chowta extended a formal invitation for Somanna to flag off the much-anticipated passenger train service at the earliest possible date this month. He reiterated his commitment to improving regional rail connectivity and ensuring that this long-awaited promise is swiftly brought to reality.
