Reshma Shetty and Girish Shetty, a determined couple from Mangaluru, have etched their names into the annals of endurance running by becoming the first Indian duo to run from Mumbai to Mangaluru. Their remarkable journey spanned 947 kilometers over 23 days, commencing on February 14 and concluding triumphantly at Mangala Stadium on March 8. Throughout their expedition, they maintained a daily marathon pace, covering 42.195 kilometers each day, starting at 4:20 am and concluding by noon. Despite challenges such as intense heat and limited facilities in the ghats, their unwavering commitment saw them through to the finish line.

The inspiration behind this monumental run stemmed from a video by Tapasya Trustee Naveenchandra Hegde, aiming to raise funds for a palliative care center for terminally ill cancer patients. Along their route, Reshma and Girish also conducted awareness sessions at banks, colleges, and community organizations, emphasizing that childhood cancer is curable. Upon reaching Mangaluru, they received a rousing welcome and were felicitated at 'Shourya,' an event organized by Tapasya in collaboration with Lions Club International and other local organizations. The couple now aspires to have their achievement recognized by the Guinness Book of Records, symbolizing a heartfelt tribute from their "Karma Bhoomi to Janma Bhoomi."
