Mangaluru: The Karnataka government remains resolute in ensuring the proper utilization of budgetary funds for welfare and guarantee schemes, particularly benefiting fishermen and women heads of families. Addressing the media on Saturday, Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee president K. Harish Kumar acknowledged gaps in the implementation of welfare schemes like Gruha Lakshmi but assured corrective measures. The scheme, which provides ₹2,000 monthly assistance to women heads of families, has been disbursed for three months, with efforts underway to streamline further payments and ensure smoother execution.

In a major boost for the fishing community, Mr. Kumar announced that the government will soon release ₹3,000 in monthly livelihood assistance to fishermen during the fishing ban and lean period. Additionally, he emphasized the government’s commitment to launching a 'sea ambulance' service along the Karnataka coast, aimed at strengthening emergency response capabilities for fishermen and coastal residents. The initiative is expected to enhance safety and provide critical healthcare access in remote maritime regions, reinforcing the government's dedication to community welfare and economic support.
