Health Commissioner Inspects Mangaluru Hospitals, Promises Upgrades

Mangaluru: Dr. K.B. Shivakumar, Commissioner of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, visited Mangaluru on Sunday to assess the functioning of District Wenlock and Lady Goschen hospitals. During his inspection of Wenlock Hospital, he reviewed various departments and gathered insights into patient care services. Impressed by the hospital's cleanliness and environment, he acknowledged the need for infrastructure upgrades and additional staff recruitment, assuring that these concerns would be taken up at the government level.

At Lady Goschen Hospital, Dr. Shivakumar praised the efforts of the neonatal unit in reducing infant mortality rates, particularly through the establishment of a human milk bank. He also lauded the hospital’s use of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to enhance patient care facilities. Accompanying him on the visit were District Health Officer Dr. Thimmaiah, Wenlock Hospital Superintendent Dr. Shivaprakash, Lady Goschen Hospital Superintendent Dr. Durgaprasad M.R., and other senior health officials.
