Mangaluru: A daring robbery attempt at Muthoot Finance in Deralakatte Junction was thwarted late Saturday night after the thieves accidentally triggered the security alarm. The swift response from law enforcement led to the arrest of two suspects, while a third managed to escape. The finance firm, located on the upper floor of a commercial building owned by H.M. Timbers, was targeted by three criminals from Kerala. As they attempted to break the lock, the alarm system immediately alerted the control room, prompting officials to inform the police.

The blaring alarm also drew the attention of local residents, who surrounded the building, trapping two of the accused Murali from Kanhangad and Harshad from Kasaragod inside. The Konaje police arrived quickly, taking the duo into custody and seizing a drill machine used in the attempted break-in. However, their accomplice, Abdul Latif from Kasaragod, managed to flee. Authorities credit the finance firm’s advanced security system for preventing a major heist. ACP Dhanya Nayak and a team led by Konaje Inspector Rajendra visited the scene and have launched a full-scale investigation to track down the fugitive.
