Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators Association has announced that bus services in the district will remain unaffected on March 22, despite the statewide Karnataka bundh called by pro-Kannada organizations. The bundh was declared in protest against recent disruptions caused by Marathi-speaking groups in Belagavi, particularly after an incident where a KSRTC bus conductor was assaulted by a group of Marathi youth. While extending moral support to the cause, the Association has decided against suspending operations.

Association President Azeez Parthippady emphasized that public convenience is the priority, especially since SSLC examinations are in progress. “We support the demands of Kannada outfits but will not participate in the bundh. Our buses will continue to run as usual,” he stated. The decision comes as a relief to daily commuters, students, and office-goers in Dakshina Kannada, ensuring uninterrupted transport services amid ongoing tensions in the state.
