Mangaluru witnessed a strong protest by the Bharatiya Janata Party Dakshina Kannada against the Congress government’s decision to grant a 4% reservation to Muslims, which the party termed as unconstitutional. Led by BJP Dakshina Kannada district president Sathish Kumpala, the protest was held near Mini Vidhana Soudha, with the presence of senior leaders.

Addressing the gathering, BJP leaders declared that they would not bow down to what they called the Congress' appeasement politics. They accused the ruling party of violating constitutional principles and playing vote-bank politics at the cost of social justice.

Several prominent BJP leaders, including MLCs Pratap Simha Nayak and Bharathi Shetty, former MLA Sanjeeva Matandur, state OBC Morcha leader R.C. Narayan, and state Mahila Morcha general secretary Shilpa Shetty, participated in the protest. BJP workers, district office bearers, and various morchas and prakoṣṭha members also gathered in large numbers, raising slogans against the Congress government. The protestors vowed to continue their fight against what they described as "discriminatory policies" and called for fair and transparent governance based on constitutional values.
