Veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag has been awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan, fulfilling a long-standing demand of his fans and admirers. This year, Karnataka received a total of nine Padma awards, with Anant Nag’s honor standing out as a proud moment for the Kannada film industry. For years, there had been persistent calls to recognize his unparalleled contributions to cinema. Every time the Padma awards were announced, voices from Karnataka would rise in support of conferring the honor upon him. Finally, the recognition has arrived, and Anant Nag has expressed deep gratitude, dedicating the award to the people of Karnataka. “This award belongs to the people of Karnataka. A sense of calm has enveloped me since the announcement, knowing that those who supported me for years will now rejoice,” he said. Reflecting on the unwavering support he received, the actor added, “I often wondered how long such movements would last, but the support never wavered.”


Anant Nag also extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making this recognition possible. Speaking about the revamped selection process for the awards, he remarked, “It’s heartening that public opinion now plays a role in the selection of awardees.
